Take part in STEPtember
Let’s meet every year in September and move together to support cerebral palsy!
A unique gathering in France!
STEPtember if the only health/well-being challenge, to be taken up with friends, colleagues or alone, for the benefit of research on cerebral palsy; it was launched by the Fondation Paralysie Cérébrale in 2019.
Every September, la Fondation Paralysie Cérébrale encourages companies, organisations but also individuals, to practice a regular physical activity in order to preserve their well-being and their health. The target is to reach 10 000 steps a day or more, as recommended by the World Health Organisation, and to collect funds for research on cerebral palsy, first cause of motor disability in childhood, by moving for those who can’t.

Fund raising to finance research projects
Since it was created in 2005, with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, by parents and health professionals with the purpose to gather researchers and donors, the Fondation Paralysie Cérébrale, only foundation fully dedicated to research on the condition in France, invested nearly 7 million € in 78 research projects dealing with primary needs of children and adults affected.
By committing to meet the STEPtember challenge, each participant, by means of their participation and funds they manage to raise among their entourage, contributes to advance research on cerebral palsy. All of the collected funds will be used to finance ENSEMBLE: an ambitious research programme the purpose of which is to diagnose cerebral palsy in a reliable manner very early in the life (before the age of 6 months, whereas currently the diagnosis is only posed around the age of 2). The sooner it is detected, the sooner we can take the right steps to provide better care.

Faithful coaches and a committed patron
For this 6th edition, the Fondation Paralysie Cérébrale is surrounded by its most faithful coaches: our 2 stars Adalia and Louis (8 years old), Jason the entrepreneur (25 years old) and our sportive mum, Emmy (41 years old).
This year, they will challenge participants with playful challenges and will show everyone that, thanks to their determination, they are able to achieve great things. They look forward to seeing you as of the 13th of September 2024 to kick off the challenge!
This year, the Fondation is also proud to be able to count on the support of its new patron, the former international rugby player Julien Bonnaire, a great man with a huge heart, who has been fighting for several years to promote sport for disabled children.
« As a former rugby player, I know the importance of practising a physical activity, for fun or at the high level I have known. And even more for disabled persons, for whom practising a physical activity is essential, both in terms of physical exercise and motricity, but also from the social point of view.” Julien Bonnaire explains.

TESTIMONIALS
People who live with cerebral palsy, parents, researchers, doctors, donators... all speak up on the importance of supporting research.

"For the past 3 years, I've been taking part in STEPtember. It's an opportunity to raise awareness of cerebral palsy and vital funds for research, which is crucial: not only does it offer the prospect of better medical interventions and support, but it also feeds our hope for significant breakthroughs."

« STEPtember, c’est une opportunité unique de s’occuper de soi et de son bien-être tout en dynamisant les équipes au sein de l’entreprise et cerise sur le gâteau, de soutenir une cause importante : la recherche sur la paralysie cérébrale – tout le monde est gagnant ! »
